The Best Luggage for Traveling
Luggages for Different Purposes
The international tourist industry has been around for centuries and judging by the increase in travelers each year, the industry is here to stay. People travel for all sorts of reasons: to go on a holiday, business trips, due to medical reasons or simply to visit friends or family.
When traveling the purpose determines everything from the activities the traveler will engage down to the choice of luggage. Business travellers need secure and sturdy luggages designed to hold important papers and laptops. Those on holidays vary in their need depending on the destination and activity they plan to engage in. Backpackers quite obviously need very functional and durable backpacks while those going on family trips need big yet light luggages with wheels. Weekenders need a light carry-on bags that will meet airline requirements while those with babies and little kids need really lightweight yet waterproof carry-on bags, which at the same time have pockets and zippers allowing for easy access of essential stuff.
Choosing a Sturdy Luggage
When choosing the best luggage for travelling make sure you make your choice based on sound criteria. While price and style are both important checking each part of the bag you are interested in is a must. Not all expensive luggage are sturdy and definitely not all cute ones are functional. Below are some things you should always consider when shopping for luggage.
- Wheels – Sturdy wheels are important if you don’t want to end up dragging along a huge bag with broken wheels.
- Strap/Handles – Choose bags with adjustable straps/handles. Grip handles should be just the right size for your hands and be very sturdy to ensure it doesn’t give while you are lifting it to put away in an overhead bin.
- Case – A hard outer casing means great protection for the contents of your luggage but it also means a heavier bag to lug around. Soft cases are the easiest to carry around and can be packed really full, the downside is it will lead to wrinkled clothes and does not provide much security. Cases using semi-soft outer materials are the best choice.
- Zippers – Zippers are the bane of many travelers with some zippers giving up in the most inappropriate moments leaving a late and much embarrased traveler with spilled contents in the middle of an airport terminal. To avoid hassles with zippers choose bags with the new kinds of zippers made of synthetic material that coils.
- Tags – Luggage tags are very important but often overlooked. Choose tags that are very big and hard to break. Flimsy tags leads to missing tags, which results in switched bags. Non-descript luggage tags should also be replaced with a colorful luggage tag with huge lettering to avoid switching.
Investing in Travelware
When buying luggage you should consider it to be an investment. Do not go for cheap luggage since they do not last and will need to be replaced so frequently you’ll end up spending more. Buying designer luggage with outrageous prices are also not a good idea since the tag price is usually due only to the brand name but not indicative of the bag’s quality and durability. The most durable luggages are often medium-priced to just a little bit expensive. Since you will be investing on a luggage buy one from a luggage manufacturer that offers a really long warranty period. You will even find that the best luggage manufacturers offer lifetime warranties. Luggages with lifetime warranties are expensive but they are really worth it.
